Tonight is Thanksgiving at the in-laws, and I’m sitting in the living room enjoying WiFi, so I will put up a quick post. We’ve been in the US about a week, and it’s been a great time- but SUPER busy. We started off with early Thanksgiving with my family, and were pleasantly surprised to see that Chicken Brian<\/a> show up with his family to see us! This was the beginning of a continued vacation theme of surprise visits and outrageous displays of love from all of our friends and family. My friend Jerry<\/a>, knowing we don’t have a car right now, even drove 4 hours to take Emily and me out to dinner. It is truly humbling and moving to know that this many people care so much about us and the work we’re doing.<\/p>\n

We’re also well into our lecture series. Here are a few pictures of us speaking at the Logansport Rotary Club, Columbia Middle School, and Knox College<\/a>. The middle school was really cool because there were a few Guatemalan immigrant kids in the audience.<\/p>\n

As for enjoing the three things I miss the most from the US, I am two for three. My dad and I got to spend a day in the woods hunting deer on opening day, and I got a meal at Steak-n-Shake. I came close on the third: my friend Mark offered to take me flying in his WW2-era twin engine AT-11 bomber<\/a>, but our schedules didn’t match up right and the weather was pretty crappy. He gave me a rain check for next fall. I an not rated for twins, but maybe he’ll let me drive for a bit anyways. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
